National Pet Dental Health Month

National Pet Dental Health Month

The AVMA has officially declared February as National Pet Dental Health Month!  Your pet’s mouth can harbor some of the most preventable but easily overlooked diseases that will affect him in his lifetime.  Beyond being a source of pain and discomfort, like in humans, periodontal disease in your pet’s mouth can act as a gateway for bacteria to enter the bloodstream and cause often life threatening internal illnesses.  From brushing his teeth daily, to regular dental exams and cleaning under an anesthetic when necessary, practicing dental hygiene is key.

Remember that we regularly stock canine and feline tooth paste up front, and that we are always here to examine teeth and perform dentals when needed.  For information on the AVMA’s National Pet Dental Health Month website, click here, and for tips and tricks on proper dental care for your canine or feline companion, click here.  If you think your pet might need a dental exam and/or cleaning, contact us to schedule an appointment!

Remember that prevention is key and happy brushing!
